THE 68TH ANNUAL SEMINAR OF THE NATIONAL SCHOOL PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSOCIATION KICKS OFF SUNDAY, JULY 17, AT THE SHERATON GRAND CHICAGO HOTEL

ROCKVILLE, MD. (July 12, 2022) – More than 1,500 school public relations professionals and district leaders are participating in the hybrid National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) 2022 National Seminar on Sunday, July 17, through Wednesday, July 20. The Seminar, taking place in person in Chicago and online, offers four days of breakout sessions, interactive learning opportunities and networking events designed to provide attendees with innovative tools, best practices and resources to tell the story of their schools and the quality education they provide. The NSPRA 2022 National Seminar will offer attendees:

  • Major national keynote speakers during two General Sessions:
    • Monday, July 18—Duncan Wardle, "Ignite a Culture of Innovation and Creativity"
    • Tuesday, July 19—Greg Bell, "What’s Going Well?: The Question that Changes Everything"
  • Major national keynote speaker during a Superintendents' Luncheon Session exclusively for Seminar attendeeswho are superintendents, assistant superintendents or school board members:
    • Monday, July 18—Dr. Laura Murillo, "Lead in Life: People. Passion. Persistence"
  • More than 100 in-person breakout sessions focused on timely topical areas such as crises, engagement, tactics,strategic planning, ethics, branding/marketing, leadership, equity and wellness
  • Networking lunches and receptions
  • Access to industry partners in the Marketplace and more

More than 80 virtual sessions will premiere in the online Seminar for the nearly 150 virtual registrants tuning in online July 17-20 and for in-person attendees to view on demand for 30 days after the Seminar.

“The NSPRA National Seminar is the largest professional development event in North America for school communicators,” said NSPRA Executive Director Barbara M. Hunter, APR. “Each year, attendees can count on walking away with actionable ideas and strategies to enhance the effectiveness of their school communication campaigns and programs.”

Julie Thannum, APR, NSPRA’s 2022 Presidents Award recipient and Jared Cotton, Ed.D., NSPRA’s 2022 Communication Technology Award for Superintendents recipient will be honored at the Seminar’s General Session on Monday, July 18, at 9:30 a.m. CT.

NSPRA 2021-2022 Superintendents to Watch honorees will be recognized at the Superintendents' Luncheon on Monday, July 18, at 11:30 a.m. CT.

Anita Murphy, NSPRA’s 2022 Bob Grossman Leadership in School Communications Award recipient and Jill Filer, NSPRA’s 2022 Barry Gaskins Mentor Legacy Award recipient will be honored at the General Session on Tuesday, July 19, at 9:30 a.m. CT.

NSPRA 2022 Gold Medallion winners will be honored during the NSPRA President Installation and Gold Medallion Awards Ceremony Luncheon on Wednesday, July 20, from 11:45 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. CT.

Five pre-Seminar workshops will take place on Saturday, July 16, and Sunday, July 17, at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Hotel before the official start of the NSPRA 2022 National Seminar.
