Central Indiana Educational Service Center
Indianapolis, Indiana
How many years have you worked in school PR?
10 years.
What have you found to be the most rewarding part about working in school PR?
I enjoy working directly with other public relations professionals and superintendents across Indiana to help meet their needs. Providing a voice for students and staff is the most rewarding aspect. It's essential that our communities see what is happening inside and outside of the classroom.
What have you found to be the most challenging part about working in school PR? How do you approach those challenges?
Our service center supports 31 districts, and schools compete to attract students and retain staff. It's challenging to support all districts equally while maintaining a collaborative mindset. I focus on identifying unique aspects of each school to help them stand out.
What has been your most fulfilling professional experience thus far?
In 2022, I was able to create multiple video campaigns to assist two Indiana districts with referendums. Our team produced content to secure over $151 million in additional funding. It's empowering to know my work had a direct impact on voters and will support increased teacher pay and new construction.
Are there any emerging trends in school public relations that excite you?
I see more collaboration between districts to attract talent to the profession and support educators. When we work together, we truly make a difference.
