In September 2023, Santa Clara (Calif.) Unified School District (SCUSD) administrators wondered if their school system’s values of kindness and compassion were becoming lost. Informal observations suggested that emerging issues and trends in the area and around the world were negatively impacting the district’s culture and climate. Here's what they did about it.

October 1 marked the first day of NSPRA presidency for Heidi Vega, APR, as well as the first day of service for newly elected NSPRA Executive Board officers Erica Chandler, APR, David Beil and Kate Crowder. The board also approved the reappointment of Julia Burgos as vice president at large for engagement.
Heidi Vega, APR, isn’t just stepping into the role of NSPRA president. She’s bringing with her a journey of passion, resilience and a drive for purpose. Vega, who takes office in October, will serve as first Latina president in the association’s 89-year history.
