Each year, the NSPRA Foundation for the Advancement of Education funds and administers a number of scholarships for individuals to attend the NSPRA National Seminar. Congratulations to the 12 recipients selected to receive one of the 2023 Seminar scholarships!
Kayla Church (pictured below left), communications specialist at Elko County (Nev.) School District, and Sitem Aytar (pictured below right), communications and public relations officer at Salinas (Calif.) Union High School District, have been named the 2023 NSPRA Foundation Seminar Scholarship recipients.
Brett Valdez (pictured below), communications director at Tooele County (Utah) School District, has been named the recipient of the 2023 Armistead New Professional Scholarship. This scholarship provides a registration to both the National Seminar and a pre-Seminar workshop and is made possible by the personal sponsorship of NSPRA Past President Lew Armistead, APR, and his wife Joan.
Megan Anthony (pictured below), communications coordinator at Canal Winchester (Ohio) Schools, has been named the 2023 Barry Gaskins Mentor Legacy Scholarship recipient. This year's recipient was selected by the 2022 Barry Gaskins Mentor Legacy Award Recipient, Jill Filer.
Ja’Leasa Bolden (pictured below), director of communications at Moss Point (Miss.) School District, has been named the 2023 Dawn K. McDowell Memorial Scholarship recipient. The scholarship is made possible thanks to generous contributions from Dawn McDowell’s family and the Minnesota chapter.
Andrés Villada (pictured below), communications manager at Holyoke (Mass.) Public Schools, has been named the 2023 Don Bagin Memorial Scholarship recipient. The scholarship is made possible by the generous contributions of his family and by NSPRA members in his memory.
Cristen Maddux (pictured below), public information officer for the School District of Indian River County (Fla.), has been named the 2023 Pat Jackson Seminar Scholarship recipient. The scholarship is administered by the NSPRA Foundation for the Advancement of Education and is made possible by the generous donations of NSPRA members in his memory.
Brandy Navetta (pictured below), director of communications and marketing at Zeeland (Mich.) Public Schools, has been named the recipient of the 2023 Executive Board’s Seminar Scholarship. This scholarship is administered by the NSPRA Foundation for the Advancement of Education and is made possible by a personal donation from the NSPRA Executive Director Barbara M. Hunter, APR.
Leanne Libby, APR (pictured below), chief communications officer at Corpus Christi (Texas) Independent School District, has been named the recipient of the 2023 Rich and Carolyn Bagin Scholarship. This scholarship is made possible by generous donations from the Bagin family, their friends and NSPRA members and past leaders.
Karen Briones (pictured below), communications coordinator at Los Gatos (Calif.) Union School District, has been named the recipient of the 2023 Leaders Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is made possible thanks to generous contributions from family and friends of former NSPRA leaders Nora Carr, APR, Joe Krumm, APR, Nick Goble, Phil Toman and Roy Wilson.
Sarah-Jane Menefee (pictured below left), director of marketing and communications at Rapoport Academy in Waco, Texas, and Christine Paik, APR, (pictured below right), chief communications officer at Poway (Calif.) Unified School District, have been named the recipients of the 2023 #K12PRChat Seminar Scholarship. These scholarships are made possible by possible by the donations of NSPRA members who purchased ROAD2NSPRA T-Shirts at past Seminars.
